My name is Patricia (although about half the people I know call me Pat).  I’m just an average girl, wife, and mother who happens to NOT be living an average life at the moment.  A few short months ago, I WAS living an average life…mother of two grown daughters, wife to a retired Navy man, working at a job I loved, living in the same city for 22+ years, Virginia Beach, Virginia….just cruising through life with a few little bumps and twists here and there…..until my husband got a new job and everything went topsy-turvy!

The new job just happened to be 5,938 (flying) miles away!….in Bydgoszcz, Poland!

In a few short weeks, my husband left for his new job, while I stayed behind to get our house ready to sell, make minor repairs to said house…you know all those things you think about doing, but keep putting off….like painting the front porch railings, sprucing up the landscaping, fixing the deck, painting every room in your house, replacing carpet….and the list goes on.  And…giving notice for my job.  Oh, and just for grins… I threw in some surgery on my ankle while I was at it and a few months of physical therapy to get me up and moving so I’d be able to walk all over Europe…because we had planned to do some traveling too.

And then, the bombshell….the job wasn’t going to last as long as we thought….and was going to end at the end of the year. Soooo….quick take the house OFF the market, realize that after all that cleaning and HUGE yard sale and multiple car trips to donate all the leftover “stuff,  you are now left with only things you really wanted to keep, but also….NO JOB!, since I got replaced before I even left.

What to do? What to do?  After much thought and tons of prayer, the decision was made….I took a giant leap and “jumped out of my box” and decided to go to Poland to be with my husband while we make a few major “life decisions”.

So jump out with me and read along as I share our adventures in beautiful Bydgoszcz, Poland!
